Easy domain setup

I registered a new .com domain last week. The process was quick and straightforward. No issues finding what I needed. Domain privacy was included which was a nice bonus.

Got my email going

So I needed a professional email for my new project, you know, not just a Gmail. I went with Titan Email from Name.com after seeing it pop up. Honestly, I didn't know much about it, but setting it up was pretty painless. They had some guides that walked me through linking it to my domain, which was already with them. It's been working fine, no weird delays or anything. The interface is clean, easy to use. No complaints, it just works, which is what I wanted.

Good hosting, okay support

I bought Managed WordPress Hosting for my small business site a few months ago. Setup was pretty smooth, and my site has been running well, no real downtime to speak of. I had a question about setting up a redirect and used their chat support. It took a little while to connect, maybe 10-15 minutes, but the agent was helpful once I got through. The pricing was competitive, especially with the discount I found. Overall, happy with the performance of the hosting, just wish support was a bit faster.

do they accept paypal for payments or is it just credit cards? don't have a credit card right now.

B Brett Marsh 2 months ago
Yeah, they take PayPal. I always use it for my renewals, super convenient.

Pretty sure they do PayPal, it's a pretty standard payment option for most online services these days. Check their payment options at checkout.

Thinking of moving my domain from GoDaddy over here. How smooth is the transfer process? Any headaches?

W Wendy Y. 1 month ago
Transfers are usually pretty smooth as long as you unlock the domain and get the authorization code from GoDaddy. Took a few days for mine to complete.

It's generally okay, just make sure your domain isn't too new (most require 60 days since registration or last transfer) and that your contact info is up to date at GoDaddy. That's usually where people get stuck.

Anyone know if Name.com is any good for web hosting? I'm just starting a small personal blog, nothing huge.

M Megan 1 month ago
For a small blog, it's probably fine. I've used them for a few sites, pretty stable. But if you grow a lot, you might wanna look at bigger hosting specialized places.

Honestly, their hosting is okay, but I'd rather go with someone like Bluehost or HostGator if hosting is your main thing. Name.com is more for domains.

Hey guys, thinking of getting a .com domain here. Does the free WHOIS privacy actually work or is it just for show? Don't want my info out there.

S Shane Kaur 1 month ago
Yeah, it works. I've had it on my domains for years, no spam calls or anything weird. Pretty standard now I think.

AFAIK, you gotta use a promo code for it sometimes, it's not always automatic. Check the cart before you checkout, they usually have a box for it.

I saw a 99 cent domain deal somewhere, is that real? And can I stack it with a renewal code if I also wanna renew an old domain?

C Cody J. 2 months ago
The 99 cent deals pop up sometimes, usually for specific TLDs or new registrations only. But no, you can't stack codes. One promo per order usually.

D David 2 months ago
Yeah, they do those 99 cent deals but it's usually for a new domain and only the first year. Definitely can't combine it with a renewal code, tried that before lol.

Name.com vs Porkbun, which one is better for just registering a bunch of domains? Pricing wise mostly.

T Troy 2 months ago
Porkbun sometimes has slightly better intro rates for new TLDs, but Name.com has decent bulk discounts if you're getting a lot. It really depends on which TLDs you're after.

M Megan 1 month ago
I'd say check both for the specific TLDs you want. Porkbun can be cheaper for some, but Name.com often has good promo codes, especially for .coms, that can make them competitive. Name.com also has auctions which can be cool.

Is Name.com a legit company? Or one of those shady ones that hold your domain hostage if you try to leave?

S Steve 2 months ago
Nah, they're legit. ICANN accredited and everything. Been around forever. Never had issues moving domains from them.

O Omar 2 months ago
They're totally legit. Been with them for years. If you're comparing, they're up there with Namecheap, not some fly-by-night operation.

how are their refund policies for domains? what if I register one and then realize I messed up the spelling right away?

N Noor 2 months ago
Domain registrations are usually final everywhere, not just here. They can't really 'refund' a domain you already registered, it's yours. Maybe check for typos before you hit confirm!
1
D Daisy 2 months ago
Most registrars have a super strict no-refund policy on domains because once it's registered, it's done. I'd double-check their terms but don't get your hopes up on that one.
